Just two more reasons to love Bunga Raya off the coast of Sabah, Borneo.
The first: the infinity pool, with its incredulous blue tile and water that actually nearly match the sea and sky in the distance. Red umbrellas punctuate the horizon with such vibrancy they make your eyes get a little trippy from the simultaneous contrast.
The second: the Wine Cave, a secret, climate-controlled room below the main restaurant with a library of world wines under fingerprint lock and key. We had dinner there and enjoyed a 2004 mourvedre from France with beef tenderloin and fried brie (the restaurant chose the menu for us). Decadent. And really fun — we were serenaded by two local singers/guitarists with a repertoire of songs that matched the number of bottles in the wine cave.
