If you’re seeking calm and quiet in the city, Singapore Botanic Gardens is on the short list of places to go. I spent a hot afternoon here, enjoying myriad tropical plants and flowers across acres of land north of the city center. There are endless colors, patterns and textures to capture and be inspired by. Photography is irresistible, although quite challenging under the intensity of the sun and blinding brightness of the sky. I’ll bring a tripod and go later in the day next time. I saved the orchid garden for another outing, and look forward to seeing how this sprawling, soothing zen of plants and flowers changes throughout the year.
