cardrona01Cardrona! The sun was shining and the snow was pretty darn good — made even better with the company of friends. We had a great day on the mountain, followed by cocktails and toasted marshmallows at the Cardrona Hotel. Wanaka is quite possibly the most scenic and friendly town in the entire southern hemisphere. Lakeside and lovely, it is spectacularly beautiful from sun up to sun down. The surrounding mountains, crisp air and embracing quiet take me all the way back to my childhood in Evergreen, Colorado and all the way forward to my home in Lake Tahoe. Wanaka looks and feels so familiar, all encompassing, like the top of the world at the bottom of the globe. Life, preserved.

    1. Hi James! Yes, earthquake country. Post coming soon about devastated Christchurch — very sad since I was there in 2000 when it was full of people and activity. Aside from that, I’m sure you’d love Wanaka and Queenstown — great food, wonderful places to stay and lovely New Zealand hospitality with beer and wine in hand. Cheers to that!
