To those of you who celebrate, Merry Christmas!

Today’s post comes to you from atop the mountains of Alishan National Park in central Taiwan. Yesterday’s Christmas Eve sunset poured clouds across the valley below, in a shifting sea of light and dark. It was a picturesque end to a day spent exploring the park’s spectacular Cypress grove, home to gentle giants hundreds and thousands of years old. Tree 28, just down the hill and so deserving of a better name, is some 2,300 years old — even pre-dating the significant birth celebrated today.

Merry Christmas and best wishes for a new year of discovery and expression, wherever you are in the world.

    1. James and Terri! Hello from Taipei! What a wonderful message to receive on the first day of the new year. Thank you! It’s been fantastic getting to know you too! I hope someday, somewhere in the world, our paths will cross and we’ll meet in person. I can’t wait to read about all your travels in 2014. Wishing you many new horizons together this year! K.
