Daily Dose of Beauty: Deep Blue
Daily Dose of Beauty: Adding a bit of light to the darkness as we get through the pandemic together.
This series features travel photos and stories from my archives, shared with you as we shelter in place.

After yesterday’s overnight foray into the desert, we’re covered with sand and dust. How about a dip in the pool? Today we’re stopping by the Alila Jabal Akhdar hotel, located 26 kilometers up a steep, winding road that requires a four-wheel drive as confirmed at the police checkpoint at the base of the mountain. That’s a first!
The hotel sits on the edge of a canyon looking toward the desert of Wahiba Sands. The location feels a million miles away from anything familiar but the welcoming Omani hospitality, food and décor (and frankincense) bring the experience of being there back down to earth in the best possible way.
Kick off your flip-flops and enjoy!
Until tomorrow,
Kelly
You brought me a couple things from Oman that I cherish. A sterling silver round pendant on a chain – a necklace – that looks like a mandalla. I wear it quite often and consider it a good luck charm.
An exotic looking tassle of multicolored yarns that I put on my car and house key chain.
People ask me where I got it and I tell them what you told me – from a camel in Oman.
Then the laugh and say, “No really!”
And I repeat….from a camels harness in Oman.
Then they walk away.

Oh, to be able to travel to places like this again. Your photos are wonderful — as is the message that we need something pretty each day to cheer us. Thanks for good views and vibes!

Yeah, it was pretty great. We had only booked one night but decided to splurge on two before we had even seen the room (which was amazing)!
