Photos of the Day: Au Revoir, Paris
Photos of the Day: Adding a bit of light to the darkness as we get through the pandemic together.
This series features travel photos from my archives, shared with you as we shelter in place.

Today, we’re saying goodbye to Paris with a small gallery of last looks including a full rainbow over Île de la Cité. The rainbow materialized on my last day in Paris when I visited in 2018. At first, I saw just a slice between rooftops, then ran two blocks down the narrow street to find the full effect in front of me.
The art, architecture, cuisine, wine, pastries, cafés, leisure, open spaces, light and creative spirit of this city and its people leave an indelible impression. You can never go back too many times.
Tomorrow we’re stopping at Versailles before riding the magic carpet to our next destination. So, where would you like to go (or return)?
Cuba: tropical beauty, spice and an evening at Carnaval
Bhutan: mountains, happiness and a road less traveled
Mexico: temples, vibrant color and dips in cenotes
Your choice! Vote below.
Until tomorrow,
Kelly
Who would ever want to leave but c’est la vie. Looking forward to Versailles and then climbing back aboard your magic carpet. 😊

Agreed — I could easily stay in Paris for a few more weeks! Pretty sure the carpet is off to Bhutan next… 🙂

How can you ever say good-bye to Paris?? It’s one of several cities that I could visit multiple times and still never see it all!!!

I could not agree more, Rusha. A city for endless exploration! And multiple returns.

The three times I’ve visited Paris, I didn’t make it to the Louvre and it has always been on my bucket list! I had hoped for this summer. Sigh. Thanks for the continuing tour, Kelly.

Someday, Curt! Keep hope alive. Art is always worth it and definitely at the Louvre. Thanks for coming along on the tour!

Olé! Gracias, Alison! But I think we’re headed to Bhutan. In any case, I have some Mexico posts I need to write soon! We’ll get there.

The first few times I passed through Paris I wasn’t really a fan. But then I was mostly passing through on a shoestring budget and encountered more the rude sort than the sublime sort. Thankfully, I’ve gotten to see the good side too.
I wonder how they’re doing with the virus? I haven’t heard diddly squat about Europe lately.

France is still in the top ten of cases by country but that’s all I know. It would be tough to shelter in place in a city like Paris ~ especially in spring/summer. But with lots of parks and open space, hopefully people are able to get outside as things get better.
