Lawrence Elk
November 6th, 2020
After yesterday’s chocolate moose, here’s a glimpse of a large herd of elk we spotted on our photo tour around Grand Teton National Park. We hopped out of the vehicle and walked a quarter mile toward them. They were bedded down in the meadow and it wasn’t until they stood up to trot away from us that we realized how many were in the herd — about 70 in all, various sizes and ages, with one alpha male leading the pack. Shall we call him Lawrence (W)Elk?
Bison tomorrow!
Enjoy the weekend,
Kelly

Sort of… at least I got a few photos. They definitely out-ran us. We weren’t actually running of course but they were in no mood to stick around unfortunately.

So cool! Reminds me of when we stumbled on a huge heard of deer on a deer farm in NZ. Hundreds of them!

Always impressive to see a herd of anything wild! Except people, of course. 🙂

” Shall we call him Lawrence (W)Elk?” Only if he goes “a one and a two” while he taps his foot and an accordion kicks off the song. 🙂 –Curt

Ha ha!! Yes! So true! I knew it would age me that I was giving such an old shout out. Just noticed the other day that a cable network is airing re-runs of his shows!
