Sacred Mountain Sanctuary
November 18th, 2020
After yesterday’s stop in Lombok, we’ve taken the ferry to Padang Bai Port on the island of Bali. From there, we’ve journeyed into the terraced hillsides at the foot of Gunung Agung, where we’re checking into Sacred Mountain Sanctuary. Villa 207 is a two-story bamboo hut with outdoor bath and plunge pool. From the upstairs balcony, the view of Bali’s countryside extends a far as you can see.
Tomorrow, we’ll climb up Gunung Agung (the sacred mountain volcano) to see the sunrise view from the top. Take a dip in the big blue pool and get some sleep! We’re departing at 3:00 a.m.

P.S. Apparently, Sacred Mountain Sanctuary no longer exists after a land dispute and demolition. What a sad demise for such a beautiful place! We stayed here in 2002 and loved the remote location, quiet setting and tropical foliage growing everywhere.

It seemed to be a quiet place full of nature. But the rest can’t last long, I’m getting ready for Gunung Agung at 3:00 a.m.

That is a sad demise! No longer existing? Too bad. What a lovely retreat, get-back-to-nature kinda place.

The view from the upper floor balcony of villa 207 seems amazing – the greenery is do calming. Sad it was taken off.
And a volcano trek is just the thing to do at this time 🙂 really exciting…
