Blue Christmas
December 25th, 2020
Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas!
I hope you’ve enjoyed the day. It feels a bit blue being away and apart from loved ones… unlike any Christmas before. But there were a few silver linings. With everyone at home, it’s been easy to connect by phone, text and FaceTime, and everyone is so chatty! Conversations and connections are this year’s best and most meaningful gifts.
Tonight, I leave you in the bluish glow of the Christmas tree at Notre Dame de Paris. This cathedral always conveys hope and inspiration… a survivor of centuries to light the way.
More tomorrow,
Kelly
Post of the Day: Adding a bit of light to the darkness as we get through the pandemic together. This series features travel photos from my archives, shared with you while staying close to home.
They showed an a Capella choral group singing just inside the cathedral tonite on the news. They all had hard hats on because it is still not completely stable. It was still beautiful.

Very nice photo of Notre-Dame, enhanced by the reflection on the wet ground, also enlightened by very meaningful words. It is true that circumstances have led us to a change in our interactions, work, entertainment, shopping or connection have taken a new turn, with positive gains.

Yes, a little bit blue, but thank goodness the technology held up to keep us connected. I was quite worried that things might be overloaded as so many of us needed to connect remotely this year.

Yes! Technology has been miraculous! It’s amazing we’ve been able to stay so connected.

Yes it was kind of a blue Christmas – tried to soldier through it – not quite on the other side yet…..
As I have said so often, your brilliant blog posts light up my days. Thank you Kelly. They took me out of my own head. You have made a big difference for me during a time that was, at times, very dark indeed.

The Grande Dame of cathedrals the world over Kelly – you’re so right. A symbol of hope going into the new year. She survived her fire, we can survive ours. All the best to you in the New Year.

Was reading up on the history of the Notre-dame Cathedral, and came to know how this grand lady has overcome the destruction post the French revolution, the alleged plots to destroy it and recently the fire. A message of hope as we start to come out of the dark days of the pandemic.
The blue of the Christmas tree is beautiful!

Yes… Notre Dame, she is a warrior in her own way, through her whole life. Always inspiring and hopefully her bells will ring again soon. 🙂

What stunning images, and how fitting for a Christmas that’s quieter, more contemplative, more somber for so many of us. As Notre Dame keeps rising like a phoenix in the coming year, let’s hope it’s a symbol of healing for the rest of the world. John and I wish you and your family all the best for 2021!

Thanks, Rusha. The tree IS a little bit different and yet still stunning. But what wouldn’t be in front of Notre Dame, right? 🙂
