Plage Malabata
January 8th, 2021
We’ve completed a full circle tour of Northern Morocco, from Tangier to Asilah to Fez to Chefchaouen and back to Tangier. Before we depart the region, I thought I’d share some photos of the coastline. From the port in Tangier, a beautiful wide beach called Plage Malabata circles east, bordered by a promenade — a fantastic place for an afternoon walk. It feels a little bit like Havana, a little bit like Puerto Vallarta, and a whole lot like an up and coming destination.
Tomorrow, we’re going vintage. I’m diving into the archives, sharing photos of Marrakech from my trip there in 2007. This will wrap up our virtual tour of Morocco. We’re starting something new on Sunday.
Until then,
Kelly
Post of the Day: Adding a bit of light to the darkness as we get through the pandemic together. This series features travel photos from my archives, shared with you while staying close to home.
It’s interesting to see, but I’m not surprised that you’re looking for foreign references, it’s drifting away from traditional Moroccan culture. But at the same time, tourism allows the country to open up to the world and other influences. I am curious to see what you found in Marrakech.

My photos of Marrakech are pretty funny. I was not nearly as practiced with a camera or with composition. But the photos may be more interesting to some because of that. And even though it was only 10+ years ago, they look so old! Technology has moved quickly in photography.

Caught my attention with the Puerto Vallarta walk, the Malecon. I’ve walked that so many times I almost have it memorized. So much fun artwork, diving pelicans, interesting shops, etc.:) Enjoyed your tour of Morocco, Kelly. Thanks. As noted, you’ve inspired me to go there. –Curt
