Travel Challenge Day Six: Oman
January 15th, 2021
Travel Challenge Day Six takes us to Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Oman!
Contrary to the challenge, I’m finding it really hard to not explain why the selected shots are my favorites. 🙂
I love this photograph because this family walked into frame at just the right moment, providing more context for the location. Also, the polished marble offered a beautiful reflection. I still remember the slippery, luxurious feeling of walking around on it in socks, after removing my shoes at the entrance. The blue sky and the black abayas added just the right contrast against the exterior of the mosque. It was a moment when I had that delirious, wonderful realization of being very far from home.
Oh, how I miss the world.
More tomorrow from… home! Two photographs from the U.S. coming your way.
Until then,
Kelly

and the world misses you … 🙂 soon we will be back with even more desire to discover it. I agree with you on the twist of the rule, apart from the fun of the mystery, there is also the desire to show, to explain and that is so interesting.

Such good luck. I could see people in Marrakech that I hoped would walk into my photo of a monument, but never quite got a capture as good as this one. So cool!

I like the ‘proud’ look of the woman bringing up the rear, Kelly. Standing straight. And those polished floors… Incredible! –Curt

What a spectacular photo of the mosque! Love the serenity of the image with the polished floors, the intense blue sky, and the grand mosque.
Your photo brought back wonderful memories of our own visit there a few years ago and the incredibly friendly Muslim woman who welcomed us with dates before providing a superb your. Oman remains one of my favorite countries – thanks for the memories!
