Travel Challenge Day Seven: Faces
January 16th, 2021
Happy Saturday! Travel Challenge Day Seven takes us to the U.S.
I captured the photo above while at the Great Reno Balloon Race way back in 2011. As I learned while I was there, handlers stand around the balloons while they’re inflated to make sure nothing gets in the way or impedes the process since the pilot can’t see what’s happening on the other side. These little boys were on the job for this happy balloon, creating a fun photo that made me smile too.
Since we’re in the U.S. for this post, I’ve included a bonus favorite photo from the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque, New Mexico (below). The photo shows one of the Cayaditto brothers of the Zia/Ute/Diné nations. His dancing and regalia were unforgettable and this photo has been a favorite of mine ever since.
More tomorrow from… Nepal!
With hope for a peaceful Sunday,
Kelly
Post of the Day: Adding a bit of light to the darkness as we get through the pandemic together. This series features travel photos from my archives, shared with you while staying close to home.
Great captures, with colour and movement, and I love the story they convey, there’s more to it than just the photo.

Both photos are fabulous but the one from Gathering of Nations not only reveals a more than fabulous costume, it captures the motion of the person wearing it. So cool!
