Bangkok Weekend
January 22nd, 2021
It’s Friday night. Do you know where your tuk-tuk is?
Hop in because the magic carpet has landed in Bangkok for the weekend! I love this city for so many reasons — the food, markets, temples, riverboat rides, rooftop bars, swimming pools and cheap flights to nearby beaches. After staying home for so many months, I long for the energy of Bangkok’s non-stop buzz.
Tomorrow we’ll start exploring.
Until then,
Kelly
Post of the Day: Adding a bit of light to the darkness as we get through the pandemic together. This series features travel photos from my archives, shared with you while staying close to home.
Strangely Bangkok has never attracted me, but I’m sure your posts will be tempting.

Interesting to know this. It seems to be a city people love or want to leave. The energy and heat can be hard to take.

Probably if I was there I would find something I like, but I haven’t felt any curiosity so far. That’s why I’m following your posts with interest.

I wish I had more photos from Krabi and Koh Samui. I was there so long ago that they’ve gone missing in a box somewhere, not with me. We’re leaving Bangkok after tomorrow. In any case, I do think you have to love city craziness or night life to love Bangkok. 🙂 But the food alone is worth a trip (anywhere in Thailand, doesn’t have to be Bangkok).

That’s one colourful vehicle, and a very cheerful looking Chauffeur! I always feel tuktuks are the best way to see a place, beyond walking and cycling. And the drivers can provide interesting tourist information.
That said, one has to experience tuktuk ride in South India to experience the extreme adventure zone 🙂

I agree! Tuktuks bring the experience alive with the speed, sounds, air and openness. I had some very enjoyable (and frenetic) rides in Mumbai with a very nice driver. I look forward to seeing South India in this way!

Thanks for the memories. We also like everything Bangkok has to offer. In many countries tuk-tuks have been our main form of transportation. We feel so apart from the experience when we’re in a car.

Agreed. I was just replying to another person who commented and said the same thing about tuk-tuks. Great to hear you like Bangkok, too! Such a fun city to explore. Hope you’re doing well!

Such a high-energy city! We were 24 hours away from being there when the damn pandemic caused us to cancel our trip. :(((((( Hopefully we can rebook soon!

Ugh! So sorry for your interrupted visit to Bangkok. I recall a comment or post about making that hard decision. Who knew we would still be in this holding pattern nearly a year later? I’m trying to stay optimistic but the “Groundhog Day” effect is taking its toll, along with worries about these new strains. 😦

Love Bangkok but not the traffic. There were times when we were stuck for over an hour. Stuck as in Dead Stop! But the people were calm and friendly, patient almost to a fault. Imagine that in a large city in the U.S.

Impossible in the US! There’s definitely a patient kind of calm throughout Asia that feels very comfortable and relaxed. I miss that!

I miss that as well.
