I’m trying something new today.
We’ve all been so intensely focused on the immediate world around us — our homes, our neighborhoods, our local markets or grocery stores, our places of work… we’ve lost our groove. It’s time to start dreaming again and get back in touch with world travel.
It’s been a long year+ since the pandemic began, but the weeks and months have been infused with creativity, community, optimism, new ideas and different priorities. Here’s a handful of links to intriguing stories, good reads and uplifting thoughts from around the globe to light your travel fire:

Love the World Wednesday concept, Kelly. Impressed you switched things up from the original format and presented links to articles we wouldn’t normally have seen. I immediately read the one about
Bhutan’s handling of the Covid-19 crisis as we were supposed to have been there last year when we had to return home from India.
Kepp springing changes on us – I’m all for it!

Great idea, Kelly! Hope to get to at least one of these articles … dealing from afar with a giant mess in another part of the world – Houston – where my husband and puppy have been without power, water, internet, and cell service for almost 4 days now – yikes!

WOW, Lex. So sorry to hear this. I’ve been wondering how you’re doing. Where are you? Must be so challenging to keep in touch with J?! Is your house okay? And puppy staying warm? What a bizarre winter disaster. I hope this isn’t a harbinger of what’s to come, thanks to climate change. Sending you our thoughts and hopes for all services to return soon and your hub and pup to stay safe!

It’s been pretty outrageous! J and Tashi have power now, and water should be back soon (we had lots of drinking water stockpiled for hurricanes, and he could scoop up pool water for toilets). Internet and cell are back. I could barely communicate with him for those 4 days, and he has not showered in a week (hopefully that happens before I arrive tomorrow from CO! 🙂 ) It was a fluke that I was in CO for 2 weeks, but I think I am mostly grateful (I did feel pretty guilty and unhelpful). Thanks for your good wishes!

Thumbs up, Kelly. I journeyed off to the Champs-Élysées, being an environmentalist, and was intrigued by the idea of turning it into a parkway, banning the autos. Even more fun, I then journeyed off the to the beautiful song by Sona and was immediately taken back to West Africa and my time in the Peace Corps. Keep it up. 🙂 –Curt
