A Heavenly Ski Day
February 21st, 2021
It’s been an entire YEAR since I put on my skis and enjoyed a day on the mountain here in Lake Tahoe. Today I skied at Heavenly Resort, and I shot some photos and a video to bring you along. As you see in the gallery above, Heavenly Resort straddles California and Nevada, with Lake Tahoe views to the northwest and Carson Valley views to the east.
Have you skied before? Well, buckle your boots, step into your bindings and take a quick ride with me in the video below!
I hope you enjoy seeing the snow, the lake and J’s brief cameo appearance at the end of the video. Let me know what you think in the comments. If you like this post on skis, J and I will take you out for another ski day on the mountain soon!
Glide on,
Kelly
P.S. If you’ve left a comment recently, I’ll catch up with you tomorrow.
Post of the Day: Adding a bit of light to the darkness as we get through the pandemic together. This series features travel photos from my archives, shared with you while staying close to home.
This is such amazing fun! I never skied before, well actually I never saw so much snow ever 🙂 so I am confirming attendance on the next ski day out too 🙂
The views of Lake Tahoe and the mountains in the backdrop are breathtaking, it’s a wonder you can keep your eyes on the snow path where you are going.

Yay! Happy to know you enjoyed this! Your first ski day, LOL! That was my first try with the video. Worked out okay with soft snow and not many people in front of me. Looking forward to going back out again. Thanks for coming along!

Kelly,
It’s been decades since I’ve skied so it was great fun virtually skiing with you as you raced down the gorgeous slopes at Tahoe! We think we have some pretty amazing skiing here in Colorado but Tahoe’s spellbinding allure has us beat by a mile!

Thank you, Annie! Great to hear you enjoyed the video. I actually grew up in Colorado and learned to ski at Winter Park. Vail is my favorite resort (love the back bowls). But I would agree with you — Lake Tahoe IS spellbinding and the views from Heavenly are world class!

A year between ski times just makes it more special! I skied over Christmas in CO, and I don’t think I had gone for a year+. It was so heavenly to be back on the snowy slopes. Those views at Tahoe are truly amazing; I’m not sure I have ever skied anywhere where there was a giant blue lake in my vision!

It’s kind of strange to know it’s been a whole year, and it does make it more special as you say. Agreed, the views from Heavenly are some of the best in the world. It takes the experience to a different level, especially for photography lovers. 🙂

Liked the video especially. Such a nice trail to ski down! Reminded me of the days that I used to ski, and made me want to do it again. But I am not young anymore!

Just wonderful. My only skiing days in the States were at Heavenly Valley so your post brings back many happy memories. 💕

I love this quiet descent, in the sunshine with the lake and its blue presence contrasting so well with the snow. I stopped skiing to travel farther south and explore new countries, but at the time I probably had Rossignol skis too. Thanks for the sunny moment.

Thanks for riding along! Thought about narrating the video but agree that a quiet descent is so enjoyable. My Rossignols have been to Japan, Canada and the U.S. They’re old now but still get the job done. 🙂

Heavenly Indeed. Jealous. I remember when I could still do that. Last winter at a hill a bit north of Montreal all the family skied the runs while I spent the day on the bunny hill lol trying to discover if my knees could still take it. I want to try again because I’m much stronger now – been working out most days building muscle so I think I’ll be able to do better. But not like you guys!!!! I’ll probably never be able to do that again, but I still get to watch you and feel the feeling.
