Morning In Arraiolos
March 10th, 2021
After yesterday’s virtual tour through Monsaraz, we’re back on the road exploring the Alentejo.
Along the way, we stop in Arraiolos where we encounter the local scene in front of the bell tower. Life moves slow here, just like these guys hanging out getting the day started. They’ve probably known each other for decades! Ah, community.
Tomorrow I’ll share a post with more about Arraiolos, Évora and the surrounding places we explored.
Until then,
Kelly
Post of the Day: Adding a bit of light to the darkness as we get through the pandemic together. This series features travel photos from my archives, shared with you while staying close to home.
Funny capture, sitting and doing nothing, after a lifetime of work, day after day the same old same old; you might have made their day, finally something new happened.

Ha! I’m laughing. Could be! I thought maybe they found me suspicious taking their photo but they all looked so serene in thought…

Meanwhile, their wives have already made coffee and breakfast, started the laundry, swept the house, sewed on a few buttons, shopped for dinner … 🙂 🙂 🙂

Oh Lex, I am SO chuckling at your comment! I suspect that’s true. When have you ever seen a bunch of women sitting around doing nothing on a weekday morning? Never. Their absence speaks volumes.

Don’t you just love a bench full of old guys weighing in on whatever passes them by? I do. We saw a group in Chefchouen, and I wanted to snap away at them. I was just afraid I would anger them. Even though they may not move all that fast, I just went on my merry way and left them to their afternoon together!

Ha! Yes! Love the scene wherever it happens. I shot a ton of photos from far away — like you, I didn’t think they would like me photographing them up close. But you’re right, they weren’t moving fast if at all, LOL!

No doubt, this group solves many of the world’s problems every day.
