Sunday Spirit Houses
April 4th, 2021
To those who are celebrating, Happy Easter!
Today I’m sharing a handful of photos of spirit houses. Primarily found in Asia, spirit houses come in many forms, large and small. Often shaped like a house and always placed in an auspicious location, a spirit house is a place to make offerings and appease the spirit of a business or residence. Offerings may be oranges, pineapples, steam cakes, sticks of incense, flower garlands, candles, peacock feathers or something related to the business the spirit is protecting.
Coming across a spirit house is always a pleasant surprise. Each one is a colorful thing of beauty and symbol of divine belief.
More tomorrow,
Kelly

It is a little more cumbersome than the crucifixes found in homes in Christian countries.

Now here’s a place I’ve actually visited: the Jim Thompson house. And oh, that retail shop filled with scarves, table linens, and little items to take back home to friends — which I did! What a lovely place — and in a world-famous city!
