Under the Tree

Sri Lanka

December 23rd, 2020

The holiday season often becomes about what’s under the tree, so today we’re back on the magic carpet for this stop in Sri Lanka. Imagine that YOU are under the tree, enjoying a tropical vacation in a normal world where travel is easy again. The gift of imagination feels especially important this year. Imagination creates hope which brings optimism.

More tomorrow,

Post of the Day: Adding a bit of light to the darkness as we get through the pandemic together. This series features travel photos from my archives, shared with you while staying close to home.

  • I hope there are no nuts in the tree. It reminds me of a month of December spent partly in Ipanema, in the courtyard of the hostel there was a tree whose big fruits regularly fell, not what one expects to receive, ‘under the tree’. This is also to say that Christmas in the heat is not really Christmas when you are used to the cold.

  • With you all the way Kelly; hope and optimism the perfect message for these challenging times 🙂 💕

  • A beautiful postcard beach, and optimism that we can be visiting sometime in future once the pandemic is memory.
And sitting in the tropics here, we would happily trade this environment for some snow for Christmas, at least for one day 🙂

    • Wish we could teleport! Beam me up, Scotty! Would love to have you over for some eggnog, Christmas cheer and SNOW! 🙂 We might be getting some on Saturday (snow, that is). Already have the cheer and eggnog.

      • If only! Teleporting would be fascinating, maybe on another occasion someday. I am thankful for the magic carpet though, which is not too unlike teleporting 🙂 Today I take this also as reminder of Star Trek, I have been showing the old tv shows to daughter, and Star Trek is too big to miss.
Hope you had a great enjoyable White Christmas at Tahoe, Kelly. One good thing against the many bads of this year must be a happy and peaceful Christmas at home 🏡

      • Yes, Star Trek! The show is full of creativity and innovation. Love that you’re sharing it with your daughter. And YES, a peaceful Christmas at home is always a good thing! I quite enjoyed it and it was stress free. I hope people appreciated the chance to relax rather than deal with the usual chaos that comes with the holidays. Thanks Deb!
